This 45-minute class with teacher Christy introduces the Ukulele in a fun and relaxed class setting. Using color coding, kids learn to strum easy one-finger chords while singing well-known children's songs, and will learn a simple melody on one string, while also exploring basic rhythmic notation in an age-appropriate context. Activities involve singing, movement, drumming, music games, and ensemble playing, allowing kids to continue music development while enjoying the challenge of incorporating this fun instrument into their music learning. Though concepts taught remain the same, songs and activities will vary each term, so class can be taken twice. We provide ukuleles for use in our classroom; however, families are encouraged to purchase a ukulele for at-home use. Parents/caregivers are welcome in this class! Adult participation is required for children under 6 years. Maximum class size: 6 students.
